Loaded

Awful surface for a stencil but couldn't resist. The sign states, "Think Before You Tag", which the work is obviously doing in a very literal sense. The sign goes on to threaten that all tags will be “reported and logged in the police database”, just think of the NFT potential. I couldn't help wondering how long the hapless officer would be staring at the screen waiting for the tags to load...Funny? yes. But also a little serious knowing that kids expressing themselves in public space on public property do so at the risk of arrest, and that resisting arrest would inevitably be met with force and violence. Morality police are everywhere, and art needs to challenge that in order to move things forward. So I guess that's stalemate,. Or at least a relentless spinning "loading..." sign. Meaning this simple public artwork, is "Loaded" with cultural significance?, perhaps not, but at the very least, it's "seriously funny".
