A sample from a series of public interventions and announcements launching new freely accessible public museums that challenge the cultural hegemony of the museum sector. The natural history “Tree Museum” and ther “Street Art” museum removes those obstacles, anxieties and often barriers to learning, by reminding us that everything “inside” these super structures of unregulated power to define, also exists outside of it, and for the most, come without a cover charge. Inspired by recent announcements that the museum would be “free entry” on one Sunday a month, the series offers a readily existing alternative rich in cultural history with not a guard, a do not touch sign, a glass case or giftshop in site.
